Quincy - Erline Bourn Hinsey Smith Betts of Quincy, Florida passed away peacefully on Monday, November 5, 2018. She was 90 years old.

Born in Columbia, Mississippi on October 20, 1928, Erline was the daughter of George Jefferson Bourn and Irene Stewart Bourn. Erline married James "Jimmie" A. Smith and had two children, James Christopher Smith and Susan Elizabeth Smith. In May of 1981, Jimmie passed away from a battle with cancer. Erline went on to marry Wayne F. Betts in 1983 and was happy to welcome Wayne's daughters, Kimberly Greene and Tracey Pearce into her family.

Erline was a 50+ year member of Washington Chapter #43 Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed being a homemaker, caring for her children and grandchildren and helping out on the family farm. Erline loved children and that was evident in everything she did. She taught beginners in Sunday School at Greensboro Baptist Church. Later in life, Erline along with her husband, Wayne, were active members of First Baptist Church of Quincy. Erline loved the Florida Gators. She loved taking her grandchildren to the Gator football games.

Erline is survived by her two children Chris Smith (Delores) and Susan Carter (Buster) both of Quincy, FL; two step-daughters, Kimberly Greene (Don) of Melbourne, FL and Tracey Pearce (Ivey) of Havana, FL; seven grandchildren, Trent Carter (Meredith), Crystal Muggelberg (Dan), Shane White (Suzanne), Wanda Raulerson, Justin Martin (Melissa), Libby Woods (Chris), Katie Pearce; ten great grandchildren, Ava and Ella Carter, James and Carter Muggelberg, Carly White, MaKayla Raulerson Bruce, Ella and Tucker Martin, Ivey Joyce and Kathryn Woods.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Irene Bourn, as well as her husbands, Jimmie Smith and Wayne Betts and her son-in-law, Buster Carter.

Funeral service will be on Friday, November 9th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Quincy. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Alzheimer's Project, 301 East Tharpe Street, Tallahassee, FL 32303 in memory of Erline Betts.
