Morris enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After returning home, he was united in marriage to Mavis Norene Ward July 23, 1955 and together they raised two children. Morris spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. His working years were spent farming mainly poultry and cattle. He was of the Methodist faith.
Morris is survived by his wife of 63 years: Mavis Jones of the home; two children: Gary Lynn Jones of Jonesboro and Linda Finley and husband Steve of Bryant; one sister: Ramona Townsend of Wideman; five grandchildren: Ashley Howell of Melbourne, Adam Tyler Jones of Jonesboro, Jessica Marie Ballou (Ryne) of Bryant, Sarah Elizabeth Samour (Fidel) of Little Rock and Grace Ann Finley of Dallas, Texas; five great grandchildren: Charlotte Ballou, Ember Ballou, Ella Rhea Howell, Haiden Loyce Howell, Emma Kaylinn Jones; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends.
Morris was preceded in death by his parents; his twin sister: Melba Shipley and two brothers: Gamelliel Jones and Gerald Jones.
Graveside funeral service will be Thursday, January 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Wideman Cemetery in Wideman, Arkansas.
