Irma S. Schmidt, age 99, a resident of the Shady Lane Nursing Care Center,
Manitowoc, formerly of 8402 Tannery Road, Two Rivers, died Thursday morning,
January 27, 2000, at the home.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 29, 2000, at Our
Savior Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Rev. Louis Sievert will officiate with
burial to follow at Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers.
She was born February 21, 1900, at East Lake, Michigan, daughter of the late
Frederick Liedtke and Ottillia Friemuth. She married Erwin Schmidt on June 17,
1923, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. He preceded her in death
on February 1, 1979. She and her husband lived and farmed in the town of Two
Rivers their entire lives. She was a member of the East Twin Homemakers, the
Manitowoc County Farm Bureau and a founding member of Our Savior Ev. Lutheran
Church.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Lewis and Barbara Schmidt, Two
Rivers; five grandchildren, James Schmidt, Melnik, David Schmidt, Two Rivers,
Diane Schmidt, a student at University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Philip Schmidt,
Two Rivers, Cory Schmidt, Two Rivers; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law,
Art Schwake, Mishicot, Nora Luedtke (sic), San Jose, Calif., Agnes Liedtke,
Illinois; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was
also preceded in death by one son, Leonard; one brother, Frederick Liedtke; six
sisters, Esther Miller, Regina "Jean" Meyers, Hertha "Peggy" Cuerow, Helen Goedjen,
Emma Freye, and Theresa Kind.
Friends may call at Our Savior Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, on Saturday from
9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be no Friday evening
visitation.
The Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.

Marriage of Erwin/Irma Schmidt
Miss Irma Liedtke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Liedtkke of 2309 Fourteenth
Street and Erwin Schmidt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles G. Schmidt, of RR 1, were
united in marriage on Saturday, June 17 at 3 o'clock at St. John's Lutheran
Church by the Rev. W.G. Haase. Miss Erna Gehm played the wedding march and the
mixed choir of the church, of which the bridal couple were members, sang two
selections.
Miss Esther Liedtke, sister of the bride was maid of honor and Miss Neitha
Kasten was the bridesmaid. Roy Schmidt, brother of the groom and Louis Wehausen,
a cousin were the groom's attendants. The bride's dress was of canton crepe with
veil, the bridal bouquet being white roses and sweet peas with streamers. The
maid of honor was dressed in coral organdy and the bridesmaid wore lavender
organdy, both wearing corsage bouquets of sweet peas. A reception to about forty
relatives and friends was held at the home of the bride's parents after the
ceremony. Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lyle V. Curnow and Miss Flora
Jones of LaGrance, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wehausen and Louis Wehausen of
Liberty, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt will make their home in Two Rivers where
both are very well known.
