Charles F. Joe, 72

Charles was born June 28, 1918, in Cameron, MO. He graduated from Fremont, Nebraska High School in 1937 and graduated from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont in 1941. He was assistant football coach there.

He served the United States during World War II.

In 1942, Mr. Joe married Florence Nelson May 1, 1942 in Papillion, Nebraska. They were blessed with two children.

He worked for the J.C. Penney Co. and managed a C.R. Anthony Co., in Sleepy Eye, Minn. He was a police commissioner in Sleepy Eye, Minn., and a fabric salesman in Minnesota and North Dakota before retiring. He lived in Fremont since June 1989.

He was a member of Sinai Lutheran Church, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, all of Fremont. He was a Boy Scout Master for several years and coached little league baseball in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Mr. Joe died Tuesday, April 30, 1991, at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County, Nebraska. He was a retired clothing story manager.

Left to honor his memory are his wife; son, C. William of Omaha, NE; daughter, Mary Joe of Omaha; and a sister, Evelyn Holmburg of Denver, CO.

The funeral for Charles F. Joe Jr., 72, of 2150 E. Military Ave., will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Sinai Lutheran Church in Fremont.

The Rev. Paul Hoffman will officiate Friday’s service. Visitation will be 6-9 pm today at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Home in Fremont. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the American Heart Association.
