Jenny Bett Dickson Bradley was born on Feb. 2, 1927 in Terrell, Texas to Louise and Angus Dickson. She lived there throughout her high school years with her beloved big brother, Buddy. Jenny and her brother worked at Dickson Appliance Store, a local store in Terrell owned by her father. While there, she learned the basics of running a retail business, which was helpful when she opened Jenny Bradley Interiors, while working with her husband Joe at Andrew Brown Carpet Company in Beaumont, Texas. Jenny was a self-employed woman at a time in history when it wasn’t the norm. She was a member of the American Society of Interior Designers, a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, and The Junior League of Beaumont.

After graduating from high school at 17 she headed to North Texas Agricultural College and later to the University of Texas, where she met her husband Joe Bradley, who had recently been released from a POW camp, after his B-24 bomber, The Dry Run, was shot down on his 48th mission. After his liberation he returned to Texas and enrolled at The University of Texas, where he met the love of his life, Jenny, thus beginning their long-time love of The Texas Longhorns.

Joe and Jenny started their married life in Beaumont, Texas. There she joined Joe and started decorating the apartments he built. They were frequently in Dallas for the Furniture Market, where Jenny’s keen eye helped Joe furnish the apartments, select drapes and wall to wall carpet. While in Beaumont, Jenny managed to find time to be involved with her church family, and the many activities of her daughters. She led Camp Fire Girl’s groups, taught Sunday School, supervised many slumber parties, and managed to make it all look easy. After her daughters were in college, she managed to make many wonderful vacations from Mexico to Italy, France and Canada. One year she and Joe and their daughters rented a house in Provence for a month, where she started painting again. The next year she did a home exchange with a couple from The Hague in Luxembourg. Always one to love adventure, she passed this love of travel and adventures on to her daughters, and her beloved grandchildren.

Jenny had always loved the Texas Hill Country, especially the Comal and the Guadalupe Rivers in New Braunfels. As luck would have it, they drove up and down Edgewater Terrace searching for the perfect rock house on the Comal River and bought it, which led to a whole new world of friends. Many days were spent with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at The Island. They were a familiar sight driving their beloved dachshund, Miss Daisy, around The Estates in their golf cart

Jenny is survived by her daughters, Becky LyBrand and Sally Broyles and husband Buzzy Broyles of Fort Worth. She is survived by the following grandchildren and great grandchildren: Brad LyBrand and his wife Cindy of Houston and their daughter Sophia, Ross LyBrand and his wife Katya of Austin and their daughter Mila, Grayson DiFonzo and her husband Buddy DiFonzo of Dallas and their daughters Lola Bett and Gigi, Jenny Bett Newson and her husband Logan of Olton and their children Graham and Gracie Jo, Leigh Broyles of Dallas, Laura Warnier and her husband Daniel Warnier of Briarcliff Manor, NY and their daughters Finley, Maeve and Violet, and Jeffrey Broyles of Ft. Worth.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of First Methodist Church of New Braunfels, 572 West San Antonio Street, New Braunfels, TX 78130 or to Hope Hospice of New Braunfels, 611 North Walnut Avenue, New Braunfels, TX 78130.
