Miriam Sharpless, daughter of Sephemus and Sarah Sharpless was born at
Damascus, Ohio, 11th month, 29th, 1841.

Having been born a member of the society of Friends she was raised in
accordance with its doctrines and principles, which held a large place in her
heart through life. She united with the Christian church at the age of 25. Has
made her home in West Liberty since 1897. She loved to follow in the footsteps
of her Savior, and told her friends almost from the first of her sickness that
she did not expect to recover and had a longing desire to go home to God. As
the end drew near, she had a blessed assurance of her sins having gone before
to judgment and been washed away in the blood of the Lamb. She seemed to have
beautiful glimpses of heaven, saying at one time, "Sister, wont it be sweet to
soar away to glory and leave this poor sick body behind?"

She found this happy release on the eve of the 26th of 10th mo., 1906.

Her funeral was held first at West Liberty and then at Springdale on the 28th.
