Harold Graves, 67, of San Angelo went to be with Jesus on December 25, 2018 in Shannon ICU.
Harold was born November 23, 1951 in Manhatten, NY to Sherman and Lottie Graves. Harold grew up in the neighborhood of Harlem with his loving siblings. Harold joined the Air Force in 1970 at the age of 17. He served 19 years and 9 months. His decorations and citations included Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, Combat Readiness Medal with One Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Longevity Service Award with Four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Service Long Tour Ribbon with Two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Training Ribbon, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Two Oak Leaf Clusters.
Harold married the love of his life, Jerry L. Powell, on July 23, 1988. They shared 30 wonderful years together. Harold loved history, basketball, football, movies and music. His life and love for family and friends will remain in our hearts forever and we will dearly miss him.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Sherman and Lottie, sister Charlotte Edwards and grandson, Oscar Smith.
Harold leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Jerry; sons Harold Sherman Graves and Coley Hudson, Jr.; daughters Jacqueline Smith and Andrala Crenshaw; brothers Lonnie (Diane) Graves, Randy Dell Graves, and Carl Graves; sisters Zola (Jimmy) Gray and Lois (AD) Bowman; brother-in-law Leonard E. Powell, 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Harper Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial with Military Honors will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019. Arrangements are under the direction of Harper Funeral Home of San Angelo. Pallbearers will include; Coley Hudson, Jr., Christopher Hudson, Caleb Hudson, Luke Williams, Lucious Washington, and Eddie Williams.
