Mr. Jack Lamar McDaniel, 86, died Saturday, July 1, 2017. Mr. McDaniel passed at his home in Gainesville with his beloved wife, Montine (Tina) Bagwell McDaniel, by his side.

Mr. McDaniel was born on a Sunday morning, January 4, 1931, in Lafayette, Georgia, Walker County; the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arlin Byrd (Eunice Ballard) McDaniel.

He graduated Lafayette High School in 1948 at 17 years of age and attended Berry College 1948-1950. Mr. McDaniel was a proud member of the United States Air Force from 1951 - 1955, later attending the University of Georgia from 1955-1956, and graduating June 1956. He graduated from Georgia State University with an MBA degree in 1966.
Mr. McDaniel was employed by Pure Oil Co. in 1956. Pure Oil Co. merged with Union Oil of California in 1966. He worked in Macon, Columbus, Gainesville, Griffin, Savannah, and Atlanta; transferring to Tampa, Florida and Chicago, Illinois before returning to Atlanta. Mr. McDaniel retired in 1993 with over 37 years of work with the same company. Mr. McDaniel was also a licensed real estate agent.

He met and married Montine (Tina) Bagwell from Gainesville in 1958. They have one daughter, Elizabeth (DeeDee) born in 1966.

Mr. McDaniel was a member of The Elks and Exchange Clubs. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Gainesville, where he served as deacon, member of the choir, and a longtime member of the Angler’s Sunday School Class. He also worked with the Georgia Baptist Association in Disaster Relief for over 18 years, from Texas to New Jersey; and with the Chattahoochee Baptist Association, building a church in Alaska.

Mr. McDaniel enjoyed woodworking, golfing, dancing, singing, and baking.

Mr. McDaniel is survived by his cherished wife of 59 years, Montine (Tina) Bagwell McDaniel; devoted daughter, Elizabeth (DeeDee) McDaniel Miskotten and husband Timothy Miskotten, Wixom, Michigan; grandsons Garrett Edward Daniel Miskotten and Luke Timothy Miskotten, Wixom, Michigan; two brothers, Bill (Janet) McDaniel of Lafayette and Alan (Gail) McDaniel of Cartersville; one sister, Ann McDaniel of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Sister-in-law, Nelwyn Bagwell Turk; Brother-in-law, W.A. (Joanne) Bagwell; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 9, 2017 in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the service.
