OBITUARY OF JUDY "SASSY" FLETCHER

Judy "Sassy" FLETCHER 83, of Choctaw, Oklahoma, formerly of Amarillo, Texas passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Gruver First Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Curry, officiating. Burial will follow at Gruver Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers of Spearman.

Judy was born March 13, 1935, in Gruver to James Edward and Winnie Boyd VERNON. She graduated from Gruver High School and later from West Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's degree. She was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Judy was married to Robert Neil FLETCHER on August 01, 1952, and they recently celebrated 66 years of marriage together. In 1970, they moved to Lake Tanglewood. She was involved in the formation of the Lake Tanglewood Community Church. She also was very active with the children and youth ministry. She spent many years volunteering with Vacation Bible School. In 1990, she was named Person of the Year from the Lake Tanglewood Youth Group. She enjoyed spending as much time possible boating, swimming and fishing. She loved playing cards and chicken foot with her friends and family. She also spent many Friday nights playing Bingo at the community center. She loved practical jokes and always had a good time wherever she went.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, grandson Austin ALLEN, sister Floydean SHOOK, and brother Billy Ed VERNON.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Neil "Popsy" FLETCHER of Choctaw; daughter LeeAnn BURNAM and husband Luke of Panhandle; granddaughter Kellie DUCKWORTH and husband Shannon of Choctaw; six great-grandchildren, Canton HALLAM and wife Cynthia of Perry, Eriqa HALLAM, Madelyn DUCKWORTH, Travis MARTIN, Hannah DUCKWORTH; great-great-grandson Camden HALLAM; brother Roger VERNON and wife Nancy of Tomball; sister Winnell SHAW of Amarillo; and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to the Austin Allen Scholarship Fund at Amarillo College, PO Box 447 Amarillo, TX 79178.
