POWERS, Sandra J. - of Saginaw, age 67, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 29, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Reitz-Herzberg Funeral Home in Saginaw. Rev. Josh Haley officiating. Burial to follow in St. Andrews Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 2PM until 8PM and Saturday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple of the First Born Church in Saginaw.
Sandra was born April 26, 1951 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Harry and Phyllis (Kniebbe) Powers. She graduated from Douglas McArthur High School in 1969. Sandra went on to attend Michigan State University, eventually earning her bachelor’s degree from Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) in 1979. She married Kenneth Hyatt on December 12, 1987. Sandra was the associate pastor and minster of music at Temple of the First Born Church in Saginaw. She had a passion for music and singing. Sandra enjoyed shopping and loved taking trips to Disney World.
Surviving are: Husband, Ken Hyatt; Cousins: Sharon (Terry) Hartshorn, Sandy Bankhead, Ronnie Kniebbe, Linda Brown, Joyce Miller; Aunt, Vivian Powers; Brother, Dennis Powers; Sister, Kerry Haley; Nephew, Josh (Perecles) Haley; Grand nephew, David Haley; Godson, Michael (Luisa) Petroff; Special family members: Michael (Lupe) Petroff Sr., Adrian Beffrey, Michael Jacobs; Many other loving family members and dear friends.
