A longtime resident of Driggs, ID, Evelyn Theola Goodsell Bowen passed peacefully in her sleep Dec. 25, 2018, in Highland, Utah, at the age of 81.

She was the oldest of four children born to Lewis and Theola Fullmer Goodsell.

When Evelyn was 15, she became attracted to her new, 18-year-old school bus driver named Milo Dean Bowen from Driggs, Idaho.

They fell in love, and after Milo served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he and Evelyn married each other in the Idaho Falls Temple on Dec. 20, 1957.

Evelyn graduated from BYU with a bachelor's degree in home economics.

She was proficient in teaching high school English, home economics and interior design, and was often asked to commute to Ricks College to teach specialized wardrobe color classes.

Homemaking was a passion of Evelyn's.

She was an exceptional seamstress and even sewed her own wedding dress!

She loved gardening and spent the bulk of her summer days caring for her large vegetable garden and flower gardens.

Together, Milo and Evelyn were active, lifelong members in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where they found joy in serving the Lord in their various callings.

Evelyn served a Church mission with Milo in the Family HIstory Center in SLC, and after Milo's passing, she served a mission in the office of the California Long Beach Mission.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband Milo, sister JoAnne Goodsell Johns (Sidney), and one grandchild, Yliana Bowen. Evelyn is survived by her two brothers: Wayne Goodsell (Judy - Riverton, Utah) and Lowell Goodsell (San Dimas, California); and her six children: Kathleen Neibaur (Phil - Newdale, Idaho), Jacqueline Thomas (Greg - Highland, Utah), Bradley Bowen (Eddye K. Bean - Victor, Idaho), Diana Freeman (Ray - Ellensburg, Washington), Michael Bowen (Araly - Colorado Springs, Colorado), and Robert Bowen (Anita - Orem, Utah).

She is also survived by

16 grandchildren

and 22 great-grandchildren.

The family appreciates the love and care she was given at Highland Glen Assisted Living the last 4 years.
