Edgar was born on August 20, 1930 in Lychen, Germany, 100 kilometers west of
Berlin. He moved to Canada in 1951 and worked at a variety of jobs across the
country. He enlisted in the Army on January 6, 1955 and served for three years in
the Canadian Army (Regular Force Canadian Guards); afterwards he worked for
a Kitchener uniform rental company before joining J. M. Schneiders Inc. He was
discharged on January 9, 1958. Edgar married Gertrude Achtzehnter in 1957. The
couple had one daughter, Mona Alexandra. Edgar proudly served his country and
greatly appreciated the support and comradeship he received as a member of The
Royal Canadian Legion Fred Gies Branch 50 in Kitchener. Edgar passed away on
February 7, 1989.
