Jimmy Bush, 67 of Lubbock, TX passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018 after his struggle with cancer. He was born March 4, 1951 in Lubbock, Texas to S.E. Joe Bush (1907 – 1981) and Ina Belle Wharton Bush (1913 – 2008).
Jim grew up in New Deal, Texas. He graduated from New Deal High School in 1970 despite skipping school to go roller skating and drive around the Hi-De-Ho with buddies. He worked in the family business, Bush’s meat market and Steak Barn. His career with Texas Instruments lasted over 40 years and began in Lubbock and retired in DFW. He enjoyed hunting with family and friends. One of his annual traditions was to go hunting with friends south of Abilene. He loved animals including rattlesnakes, chickens, dogs along with deer.
His Harley motorcycle gave him much pleasure and he enjoyed the road trips and the friends he met along the way. Many will remember him for his extra slow Texas drawl and infectious laugh.
He is survived by his wife Lisa, a step-son Scott Gilliland of Fort Worth and daughter Machele Bovea and husband Patrick and grand-daughters Mattie and Taylor Bovea of Azle, TX. Jim is survived by his siblings Ron Bush (Terri) of Dougherty, Don Bush of Littlefield and Ann Bush of North Salem, New York and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Ina Belle and Joe, sisters Barbara Jo and Ina Belinda. A private service will be held by the family after cremation.
