SMS Kenneth L. Trotter was born on November 27, 1937, to Jasper and Ona Trotter in Sweetwater, TN, the oldest of 6.

The children were raised in Maryville, TN. After high school, he spent some time attending UT and worked at Alcoa Aluminum then decided to join the Air Force and made a career of it. During a visit home, he attended a Sunday School party where he met his future wife, Doris Brookshear. Together they raised three children and enjoyed moving around the U.S. courtesy of the military. He loved his family and spent most of his free time with them, coaching little league, going to air shows, occasional fishing and camping trips, road trips to see our beautiful country, attending and occasionally hosting family reunions. He enjoyed simple pleasures: neighborhood walks, being a Papa, hot coffee, airplanes, bluegrass music, chocolate covered cherries, baseball games, babies.

After 23 years in the service, Ken and Doris moved their family to Lake Stevens, WA, where he continued his career as an aircraft mechanic/flight test inspector at The Boeing Company. After retirement they enjoyed traveling in their RV around the U.S. and Canada, and loved winters in their Arizona home.

He passed away in Stanwood, WA, on September 6, 2018, after a long illness.

He is preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Katie.

Missing him are his wife of 56 years, Doris; children, Deresa (Jack), Dan (Elaine), and Sandra (Lindsay); grandchildren, Anna, Rachel, Sarah, Jordan, Eric; great-grandchildren, Bentley and Ruth; step-grandchildren, Shantel, Dub and Ben; and his siblings, Evelyn, Clyde, Richard, Herb and Nancy.

All are welcome to a Celebration of Life service at First Baptist Church in Arlington, WA, on September 29, 2018 at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fanconi Anemia Research Fund, 1801 Willamette Street, Suite 200, Eugene, OR 97401.

We are sad to lose our kind and gentle dad, but rejoice in knowing he is with his Savior.
