BUTTERMORE - At his home in Connellsville township on Monday, September 23rd, 1901, Thomas J. Buttermore of a complication of diseases. He had been ill six months. Deceased lived nearly all his life on the farm on which he died. He was born 1832 on the Stacy farm in Connellsville township, the son of George and Barbara Buttermore. When he was a year old his parents moved to what is now known as Buttermore farms, and there he spent his long and useful life. There his parents died and his wife also on October 18th, 1898. In 1855 he married Miss Caroline McFadden, daughter of a well known Connellsville township farmer. To them were born a large family, the following whom survive; Clark of Henderson, Ky., Mrs. Annabelle Herbert of Scottsdale; Mrs. Alice Chamberlain, Connellsville township; Mrs. Margaret Francis, Connellsville; George, Connellsville township; Mrs. Emma Erbeck, Homestead, and Charles resides in Connellsville township. Mr. Buttermore was a brother of the late Dr. Smith Buttermore of Connellsville. He is survived by the following sisters; Mrs. William Lyons, Pennsville; Miss Elizabeth Buttermore, Connellsville; Mrs. Harriet Cunninghan, Connellsville, Mrs. Abram Franks, Milwaukee, Ind. Deceased was a most genial companion and the soul of hospitality. There was no worthy charity he did not contribute to and true Christian spirit guided all his works. He served several times on the School Board of Connellsville township. Recently he became a member of the Connellsville Presbyterian Church. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the late home by Rev. W. A. Edie. Interment was in Hill Grove Cemetery.
