Peggy D. Carroll, 74, of Altoona, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Visitation will be 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marine Corps League Det. #1335 or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in her memory.
Funeral services will follow the visitation at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. Interment will be in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter, Iowa.
Peggy D. Munn was born October 29, 1944, in Drakesville, the daughter of James and Lucille (Gordner) Munn. She graduated from Davis County Community Consolidated High School and from Iowa Success Business School in Ottumwa. She married Thomas Edward Carroll on June 24, 1967, in Urbandale. She was employed as a librarian at the Altoona Public Library in Altoona, until she retired. Thomas preceded her in death on August 29, 2018.
She is survived by one daughter, Jeanne (Jared) Brus of Walcott; two sons, William (Rose) Carroll of Altoona and Phillip (Kelly) Carroll of Ferndale, WA; eight grandchildren, Logan, Madilyn, Devin, Charles, Luca, Ashley (Josh), Thomas and Kaden, one sister, Patty (Willard) Wray of Waukee; and two brothers, Jimmy (Oma) Munn of Washington and Jerry (Jane) Munn of Hedrick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one grandson, David Carroll.
