The funerals for Sharon Hatcher, 42, and April Hatcher, 16, both Valley City, will be held Tuesday. They died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, as a result of gunshot wounds.

Sharon Newman was born Sept. 28, 1960, in Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind. The family moved to North Dakota, and she grew up and attended school in Oriska, N.D., and Valley City. In Valley City, she worked in construction, and later for Paddock Lounge as a bartender. She was working at the Broken Spoke Saloon in Valley City. She married John C. Hatcher.

She is survived by three sons, Chris Rueckert, Grand Forks, N.D., John Hatcher, Valley City, Jason Stenseth, Kennesaw, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Heather Hardy, Milnor, N.D.; her mother, Marilyn Andresen, Valley City; three brothers, Larry, Rochester, Minn., Lenny, James, both Valley City; three sisters, Diane Peterson, Karen Newman, Dawn Klubben, all Valley City; and five grandchildren.

April Hatcher was born Jan. 4, 1987, in Valley City. She grew up and attended school in Oriska and Valley City. She was enrolled in a home school program.

She is survived by three brothers, John Hatcher, Valley City, Chris Rueckert, Grand Forks, Jason Stenseth, Kennesaw; a sister, Heather Hardy, Milnor; her father, John C. Hatcher, Valley City; and her grandmothers, Marilyn Andresen, Mavis Stearns, both Valley City.

Visitation: Tuesday from 9 to noon in Peterson-Johnson-Schuldt Funeral Home and from 1 to 2 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Valley City.

Funeral: Tuesday at 2 in the church.

Burial: Memory Gardens Cemetery, Valley City.
