Ida "Darlene" Allen passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at St. Vincent Kokomo surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Darlene was born on October 25, 1938 in Plainview, Texas to Barney and Myrtie Harper who preceded her in death. On January 6, 1958 Darlene married Billy Allen in Compton, CA and they later made their home in Kokomo, IN. Darlene retired from Delco Electronics after 30 years.
Darlene was dedicated to her family; she loved spending time with each and every one and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Darlene was the Matriarch of her family and will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
Darlene is survived by her children Dana & Don Hudson, Danny and Myra Allen, Teresa Allen and Lenora Gamblin. Darlene was blessed to have and love grandchildren Shanda and Chris Shoemaker, Joel and Alecia Hudson, and Taylor and Trever Davis. Her great-grandchildren Brynlee, Haven and Deacon Shoemaker, Layla Hudson, Tinsley and Tripper Davis, Kole Kirkman, Ayden Shaffer and Gavin Heath. Darlene is also survived by one sister Barbara Jarvis of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 1 from 4-8pm at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Road, Kokomo, IN. Funeral service will be January 2, 2018 at 11am, also at Sunset Memory Garden. Burial to follow at Nevada Cemetery.
