Born July 31, 1938, in Logansport, he was the son of the late Charles and Beulah (Harding) Gibbs.
On Sept. 18, 1960, in Logansport, he was married to Marjorie (Toothman) Gibbs. She preceded him in death.
Dick served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Richard was retired from Wilson Foods.
Surviving are his children, Rickey (Lisa) Gibbs, Lisa Kathrens, and Randy (Rebecca) Gibbs; siblings, Gerry Gibbs, Timmy Gibbs, Diane Ewing, Cindy Bixler, Debra Moore; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson and five siblings.
A private family visitation was held prior to cremation to honor Richard's wishes.
A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, in the Zion Cemetery, Lucerne, with Pastors Gerry Gibbs and Tim Minnick officiating.
