Curtis Foltz Boyd was born on October 29, 1939 in Los Angeles, California. He was diagnosed as an infant with TB of the bone. The doctors stated he would never walk. At three years old with the help of the Shriners, Curt took his first steps.

Curt was orphaned at 18 months and raised by his grandmother Minnie Maude Boyd. Curt was a challenge for his grandmother. Despite the challenges, Curt learned at a young age the importance of grandparents. He never forgot his grandmother's love which he passed on to his children and grandchildren.

Upon his grandmother's death, he enlisted in the Navy as a teenager. He served on 9 ships and was stationed in Da Nang, Vietnam. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer-4 after serving 23 years as a Naval engineer. In the private sector he worked for Ace Insurance as a National Machinery Engineering Director. He had 18 engineers across the US. Curt said that the Navy changed his life and gave him the chance to better himself.
After an outstanding military and private career, Curt retired with the intentions of traveling the world. His greatest passion was instilling his love of travel, which he passed on to his son Phillip and daughter Darlene.

After an incredible life lived through faith, love, service and travel Curt peacefully passed away on December 26, 2018 at age 79 surrounded by loved ones. Honoring his legacy, he leaves behind his wife, Marti, of 58 years; son Phillip (Nancy) Boyd; daughter Darlene (Paul) Conley; granddaughter Christie (James) Conley Harris; grandson Richard Conley; and his first great-grandchild Sutton Rose Harris.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 10am - 12pm followed by a service at 12pm on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 N Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, GA 30152. A committal service, with military honors, will be held on Monday, January 7, 2018 at 12:30pm at Georgia National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Clement's Episcopal Church.
