Karen Lynn Carr, 66, of Gassaway, W.Va., passed away at home, December 26th, 2018, surrounded by her family and loved ones after a courageous battle with liver cancer.

She was born March 13, 1952, daughter of the late Rupert C. and Marian Nicholas. Karen was also preceded in death by paternal grandparents, I.A. "Coot" and Grace Nicholas and maternal grandparents, Earl and Lena Nottingham.

Karen was a Baptist by faith. Karen was a co-founder of the West Virginia Mule & Donkey Show, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in September 2018. She was an active member of the Braxton County Fairs & Festival Board. Karen loved trying new recipes, photography, and cherished her time with family and friends. She was always willing to offer a helping hand.

Karen is survived by sister, Judy (Ron) Davis; and brother, Rupert A. (Valerie) Nicholas. Also surviving are beloved nieces and nephews, Kristi & Ian Davis, Nathaniel, Ashley & Caroline Nicholas; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Family will receive friends on from 5 to 9 p.m., on Monday, December 31, at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621. Family will also receive friends on from 10:30 to 11 a .m., on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 with the funeral service following at 11 a.m., in the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Bob Truman officiating. Interment will then follow at the Sugar Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Karen requested donations be made to Villa Nova Missionary Baptist Church, Duck, WV; Servia Fire Department, Duck, WV; or Chapel Fire Department, Gassaway, WV.
