He was a member of the Columbia Ave. Church of Christ; a 1962 graduate of the University of Kentucky, with a degree in agriculture; and had served in the Kentucky National Guard. He was a former associate with the Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Co. in Barren County; was associated in the fertilizer and feed industry with Big G Fertilizer Co., Purina Co. and Triple S Feeds; and more recently was an automobile salesman, retiring recently from Goodman Automotive in Glasgow.
Born in Monroe County, he was a son of the late George and Pauline (Williams) Stephens and the husband of Emogene (Cary) Stephens, who survives.
Other than his wife, survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley and Loralee Stephens, Tompkinsville, and John and Brook Stephens, Glasgow; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe and JoRita Stephens, Tompkinsville; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Nell and Ron MacLeod, Lexington; and six grandchildren, Shelby and Graham Stephens, Tompkinsville, and Drake, Parker, Lane and Colton Stephens, all of Glasgow.
Two daughters, Marla Jean and Melinda Stephens, both preceded him in death.
Burial was at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Tompkinsville.
