James W. Towson was born to Henry Howard Towson, son of Obadiah and Frances Towson, and Priscilla Crane. He was named after his uncle, also James W. Towson. He married Margaret Searles on December 13th, 1849 in Fairfield, Ohio. He was the Deputy County Auditor of Fairfield county for thirty years. He died in what was then called the Insane Hospital in Athens, OH.
