Matthew Jr came to Missouri in 1878, age 16 and worked on the farm of his future father in law, David P Coe. He married Matilda in 1886 when she was not yet 16. Matthew and Matilda had eleven children but only six grew to adulthood. The other five are buried in Byler cemetery with their parents, Matthew Jr and Matilda Dale.
