Mars Hill - Boyd Bennett Hill, 86, of 320 Crooked Creek Road, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at his residence. He was born in Yancey County and had been a resident of Mars Hill most of his life. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for which he served faithfully for 60 years. He has served as Superintendent of Sunday Schools and Chairman of Deacons, and at his time of death an honorary deacon.
He was the son of the late Thomas and Anner English Hill. He is also preceded in death by three sisters, Ada Buckner, Eulala Boone and Relhu Hill and three brothers, Eldridge, Earl and Hershel Hill.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Paris Hamlin Hill. Also surviving are a daughter, Lynda Bolden and her husband, Gene of Woodstock, Ga.; one son, Lanny Hill and his wife, Guydeene, of Mars Hill; four grandchildren, Greg Bailey and his wife, Lynn, of Canton, Shelly Wildes and her husband, Chris, of Weaverville, Benny Hill and his wife, Kelly, of Mars Hill and Shane Bailey and his wife Cecilia of Marshall and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral services for Mr. Hill will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church. The Revs. H.L. Wilson, Vice Whitt and Tommy Lipe will officiate. Interment will be in the Briggs Cemetery.
