Ruby O'Neal Payne
December 24, 2028:

Ruby O'Neal Payne, 96, of Fulton, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018 at her home.

Ruby was born south of Fulton on February 12, 1922, the daughter of the late Jerome H. and Elizabeth O'Neal.

On February 6, 1956, Ruby was united in marriage to Rupert Durwood Payne. He preceded her in death May 28, 2006.

Ruby attended Muir School south of Fulton and graduated from Fulton High School Class of 1939.

She worked at the selective services office in Callaway County during World War 11. Ruby retired from the Fulton Daily Sun Gazette in 1984 after 35 years of service.

Ruby was a member of the Court Street Methodist Church. She was also a former member of the V.F.W. Post 2659 Auxiliary. Ruby loved people, especially her family. She loved to travel and took several trips with her husband before his death. She enjoyed working with children and had beem a Cub Scout Den mother.

Her memory will be cherished by her two sons, Patrick O. Payne of Fulton and Michael B. Payne (Lisa) of Fulton; granddaughters, Mary Amanda "Mandy" Bell (Daniel) and Katie Elizabeth Payne of Fulton; great-grandchildren, Drake Michael Payne-Pittman, Milo Lawrence Payne, Addison Elizabeth Bell and Lucus Ovid Bell; sister-in-law, Doris Reed of Orem, Utah; several nieces and nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and two infant twin sisters.

Private funeral services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Internment will be in the Callaway Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations are suggested to V.F.W. Post 2657, Court Street Methodist Church.
