William H. Oswald, Jr., age 71, of Sugar Grove, IL passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 23, 2018. He was born on August 24, 1947 in Harrisburg, PA the son of William H. and Mary Kathryn (Miller) Oswald. Bill was united in marriage on August 25, 1973 to the former Miss Diane E. Latz and they spent the next 45 happy years together. He was a member of Plano Christian Church in Plano, IL. Mr. Oswald proudly served his country with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was for many years the owner of the Bill Oswald State Farm Insurance Agency in Plano, IL. Bill was a member of the Plano American Legion Post #395 in Plano, IL and the VFW in Sandwich, IL. He was also a member of the Sunbeam Masonic Lodge #428 in Plano, IL, the Scottish Rites, and the Shriners. Bill was a member of the Newark Sportsman Club. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. Bill is survived by his wife, Diane Oswald; his sons, William H. (Casey) Oswald, III and Michael (Nicole) Oswald; and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Kathryn Oswald. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 West South Street, Plano, IL with Pastor Stan Motley, officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano, IL.
