She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Chapel Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Okolona, MS. She later moved to Jackson, MS uniting with Mt. Helm Missionary Baptist Church and then Cade Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
She was united in holy matrimony to Charles Edward Jenkins on June 27, 1970, This union bore four children and eleven grandchildren. Mrs. Jenkins lived a life of love, dedication, and service to her immediate family, extended family, and friends.
She received an Associate Degree in Business from Okolona Junior College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Alcorn State University and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Mississippi College.
During her career, Mrs. Jenkins worked for Jackson State University, Utica Junior College, the City of Jackson, Jackson Public School District and the Urban League of Greater Jackson. She served in various capacities which included Secretary, Educator, Department Director, Budget Analyst, Program Coordinator, Grant Writer, and Accountant. Upon retirement, Mrs. Jenkins dedicated herself primarily to helping to raise her grandchildren. She was one proud grandmother
Visitation hours will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018, between the hours of 12-7 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home, located at 886 N. Farish Street - Jackson, MS 39202.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Free Mission Baptist Church, located at 2229 Florence Ave - Jackson, MS 39202. Interment will follow at Autumn Woods Cemetery.
