Mary Louise Scierka, 91, of Oil City, passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 22, 2018. Born on Nov. 4, 1927, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Lyle and Julia Stanish Morrison.

She attended Seneca Street School, graduated from Oil City High School in 1945, then attended Feller's Beauty School and worked for the Slesnick Brothers oil business in Oil City. During the war years, she worked for Westinghouse Corp. in New Jersey.

She married Peter S. Scierka on Nov. 16, 1959, in Oil City, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1995.

She enjoyed cooking, the latest kitchen gadgets, sharing family recipes, reading and watching old time movies on television. Among her favorite books was "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austin, her favorite actor was Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca. She loved murder mysteries, especially Columbo, Perry Mason and Murder She Wrote. The Andy Griffith Show always made her laugh. She also loved collecting snow globes and nutcrackers. Big Band Music was her favorite kind of music. In her younger days, she sewed and loved to crochet. She very much loved her grandchildren and was so proud of their accomplishments.

She is survived by her children, Andree Plowman and husband Greg, of Oil City, and Peter M. Scierka and wife Karen, of Pittsburgh; her grandchildren, Hannah Plowman, of Oil City and Rachel Scierka, of Pittsburgh; a sister, Gloria Baughman and husband Dan, of Seneca, as well a brother-in-law, Andy Scierka and wife Nancy of Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Patricia Scierka, of Pittsburgh, and many nieces and nephews.

As a young lady, she was a member of St. Stephen's Church. Upon getting married, she attended the Assumption B.V.M. Church where she was a long time member. Most recently, she was a member of St. Joseph Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Assumption B.V.M. Church with Fr. John Miller presiding. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
