Harold Lynn “Corky” Oliver, 77, passed away December 19, 2018 in McAlester.

He was born September 7, 1941 to parents, Oscar and Opal (Bowen) Oliver in McAlester and lived in Oklahoma all his life. His memorial service will be Friday, December 28, 2018 at 2:00 o’clock at Chaney’s Memorial Chapel in McAlester.

Corky grew up in McAlester and graduated from MHS in 1960. He studied science and graduated from EOSC in Wilburton, ECU in Ada and finally with his master’s degree from OU in Norman. He served in the U.S. Air Force, worked at Meeco Marina, as a park ranger in the OKC area, and as a teacher in Eufaula, Hartshorne, Jones Academy and EOSC. He retired in 2004. He was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.

Corky is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elizabeth Oliver; sister, Judy Thompson; his step-children, Captain Peter Nilsen and wife, Teresa and Jennifer Green and husband, Vernon; grandchildren, Matt, Garth and Allison Nilsen and Hanna Jewell, Kenna and Leigh Anna Green; great grandchildren, Mercedes, Jaxson, Janey Ann, Kiera and Godrick; and by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Opal Oliver; brother, Sonny; sisters and spouses, Pauline and Howard Lalman and Betty and Mike Gilmore; brother-in-law, Mike Thompson and nephew, Louie Thompson.

The family would like to thank Dr. Boyer and staff, McAlester Nursing Center and Staff, and Heartland Hospice staff for all the care they provided.
