Mrs. Nellie Dean Thomas Parker passed away Saturday at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center at the age of 84.
A native of Lee County, AL., and the daughter of the late Joe Henry and Ocie Mitchell Thomas, Mrs. Parker had resided in Columbus many years and retired from the Environmental Services Department at St. Francis Hospital. She also was a dedicated wife and home-maker. She was a devout member of Nazareth Baptist Church and its Missionary Ministry. She really enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and shopping. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Eugene F. Parker; two daughters, Constance J. Parker and Terrie L. Parker; a great grandchild, Conterius Parker; and four siblings, Joe Henry Thomas, Jr., Minzola Thomas, Billy Thomas and Bertha T, Kindred
Surviving are one son, Cedric E. Parker(Zetra); two daughters, Vickie Parker Riggins and Ta-Bruytta Parker Wimbush; five grandchildren, JaJuan Parker(Marketta), DelZato Parker, Shawan Parker, Shanta' Parker and Keyona Parker-Smith(Javontay); ten great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; two brothers, Willie L. Thomas(Nettie) and Gerald Thomas(Margaret); two sisters, Ruth T. Trimble and Barbara T. Lockhart(Otis); and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Parker will be laid to rest with her husband and daughters at Evergreen Memorial Park on Thursday, December 20, 2018 following a Ten O'clock A.M. Homegoing Celebration in the sanctuary of Nazareth Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Brandon Isome.
