Jo V. Janis, nee Vavak, of Saint Peters, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at the age of 102. Beloved wife of the late Harold Edward Janis; cherished daughter of the late Amos Edward and Retta Vayak; devoted mother of Wanda (Richard) Kotovsky and Sue (the late Raymond Douglas) Martin; loving grandmother of Rick (LeeAnne) Kotovsky, Scott (Cynthia) Kotovsky, Cathleen (Alex) Dell, and Lynnette Martin; treasured great-grandmother of Morgan, Maddy, Hunter, Jaxsen, Gavin, Ava, Oliver, and Clinton; proud great-great grandmother to Riley; dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Jo is preceded in death by her grandson, Craig Martin; brother Estel Vavak, sister Sue Vavak Polk, brother Albert Vavak, and brother Max Vavak.

In earlier years Jo was a member of the Grace Methodist Church and an active member of the Methodist Church Woman's Group in Greenville, MO. She currently is a member of Harvester Christian Church in St Charles, Missouri.

Jo was an avid reader and enjoyed doing word search as recent as two weeks ago. Jo not only loved the St Louis Cardinals, but shared a birthday with Yadier Molina. On her 102nd birthday, surrounded by her family, Jo met Yadi in the club house. The entire crowd at Busch Stadium sang her Happy Birthday.
