PIERCE, Mr. Edgar Farrington, "Dadoo," 88, of Midlothian, Va., passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018. He was born July 30, 1930, in Cooleemee, N.C. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph K. and Dora C. Pierce; five brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty E. Pierce "Baba"; sons, Edgar Jr. (Regina) and Joseph J. (Ann); daughter, Terry P. Saunders (Steve); grandsons, Andy (Allyson), Joey (Leigh Anne), Christian, Gregory (Kait) and Sam; granddaughters, Elizabeth (David), Rebecca and Hannah; great-granddaughters, Ellie and Eva June; and great-grandson, Knight. Ed graduated from Virginia Tech, where he lettered in Varsity baseball and basketball and was a member of the Corps of Cadets and German Club. He was ROTC commissioned First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, where he served in the Korean War as an Air Defense Command officer. He retired in 1989 from Philip Morris USA, where he served as the Director of Quality Control. Ed was an active member of numerous charitable organizations, including Free Masonry and the United Way and was active as a member of his church Dadoo had an overwhelmingly positive spirit, which drew everyone he met to him. He loved the Lord and his family and never failed to attend one of his grandchildren's sporting and extracurricular events. He was a compassionate man with uncompromising integrity.
