Gary K. Hastings, age 77 of Mansfield, TN, passed away on December 18, 2018, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN, surrounded by close family and loved ones.

Gary worked as a fireman for the City of Paris Fire Department for 29 years where he retired as assistant chief in 1996. He was known for his endless riding around through the back roads of Mansfield, watching Westerns and coming up with “Gary-isms” that will never be forgotten. He was a member of Mansfield Baptist Church.

Gary was born August 15, 1941, to the late Obie Hastings and the late Thelma Hoffman Hastings. He was married November 24, 1962, to his wife of 56 years, Sandra Smith Hastings, of Mansfield, TN, who still survives.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Kelly Hastings Pinson of Mansfield, TN; one son, Darius Hastings of Mansfield, TN; three grandchildren, Alex (Wesley) Cox, Jacob Pinson, and Ava Rae Hastings; and two great grandchildren, Ellet Cox and Quinn Cox.

A graveside service will be held Friday, December 21, 2018, at 11:00 am at Mansfield Baptist Church Cemetery in Mansfield, TN, with Bro. Gerry Gallimore officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Williams, Derrick Foust, Rourke Dunlap, Wesley Cox, Chris Smith, Brian Willoughby, Greg Collums, and Tony Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Pinson, Earl Williams, Curtis Neal, Dwayne Crews, and Windell Flanagan.
