Obituary for Wallace Ford Freeman
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS - Wallace (Red) Ford Freeman was born May 4, 1927, in the middle of 11 children. All have now passed away except for his sister, Pauline, who is now 87. He has now joined the others in heaven.
His burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery beside his wife, Margaret and near other family members.
The Freeman family lived on a farm in Montague County, Texas, near the small town of Forestburg.
Wallace was drafted during WWII and joined the Navy. He received an honorable discharge in 1949. He spent three years overseas and his ship's last duty was to collect and return home many items to the United States.
He married Margaret Slocum 25 Nov 1950. He went to work at Bell Helicopter in 1953 and retired from there 36 years later in 1989. His wife, Margaret, passed away in 2001 after 50 years of marriage.
Wallace was a dedicated Mason and received his 60 year pin in 2017.
He loved playing dominoes and went twice a week to Lake Worth Senior Center. Then later, after moving to Hurst, he played three times a week at Local 218 Bell Helicopter Retirees place.
Wallace loved helping anyone who needed it. For years, he picked up food from Tom Thumb and many other places to take to area Food banks. Due to his dementia his home the last four and a half months was at Brookdale. He will be missed so much by Edith; his nephew, Greg; and the staff at Brookdale. They all loved him so much.
Survivors include wife of ten years, Edith Vaughn; his sister, Pauline Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
