Stephen “Steve” Lorraine Robinson, 85, of Frankfort, SD, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield, SD. Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, December 29, 2018 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield. Reverend Tom Anderson officiated. Interment, with military honors, were at St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Frankfort.

Stephen “Steve” Lorraine Robinson was born December 24, 1932 in Frankfort, SD to Lorraine and Mayme “Mary” (Eimers) Robinson. Steve attended Frankfort School from kindergarten through 12th grade. While in high school, he ran high hurdles, played basketball and softball, boxed and bowled.

After high school, Steve proudly served in the U.S. Army before he was honorably discharged in 1955. On June 15, 1955, Steve married Clairice Fortin in Doland, SD. They made their home in rural Frankfort before moving into the town of Frankfort where he resided until his death.

Steve’s career as a rural Frankfort mail carrier for the United States Postal Service lasted 32 years and he retired in 1998. He worked various other jobs including on an irrigation farm, driving truck for Rude Transportation, Wheat Growers, and Standard Oil. He was also a part-time farmer who loved being on the farm and working side-by-side with his family.

Steve was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Frankfort prior to its closing and then St. Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield as well as the Knights of Columbus. He loved watching his children and then his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their sporting events. He was always there cheering them on with a big smile and lots of support. Playing cards, bowling, fishing and watching sports on TV were his favorite hobbies. He was a very hard worker who will be remembered for his kind, patient and reserved personality but most importantly, the deep love he had for his family.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 63 years, Clairice of Frankfort; sons: Bob (Sheryl) Robinson of Frankfort and Roger (Pam) Robinson of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren: Nathan (Krista) Robinson of Huron, SD and their children Kaylie, Zayde, and Avyn; Angela Robinson of Frankfort; Brandon (Paige) Robinson of Frankfort; Ryan Sundal and his friend Pam of Sioux Falls; and Eric Sundal of Los Angeles, CA.
