Shawn Lindsey, 51, of Stamford, passed from this life into his eternal home on Friday, December 21, 2018. Following Shawn’s wishes, cremation was selected. Shawn’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service at 12:00 p.m., January 4, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Stamford with Randy Quisenberry and Pastor John Ward officiating. The family request in lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory, Abilene, Texas, 79602.
Shawn was born on August 25, 1967 in Stamford, Texas, the son of the late Kenneth Lindsey and Peggy (Long) Lindsey. He was a graduate of Stamford High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology from Angelo State University in 1992. Shawn began his career in Brady, Texas, beginning the Cardiac Rehab Center and then moved to Abilene to become an athletic trainer at Cooper High School, working with Randy Allen for several years. He then worked at Midland Lee High School with Randy Quisenberry, before accepting a position as an athletic trainer with Texas Tech University in the baseball program and then with the football program. Although Shawn enjoyed his career in sports, the one true love of his life was the love he had for his mother, Peg. He always enjoyed getting together with family – eating Mema’s banana pudding, Mom’s german chocolate cake and taking great pride that he was the only one that could sit on the arm of Pat’s furniture and get by with it. He loved working with the coaches and athletes throughout his career. Shawn enjoyed driving around in his yellow jeep and listening to Willie Nelson and old country music.
Preceding Shawn in death were his father; his grandparents; and uncles James Crenshaw and Charles Long.
Cherishing the memories of Shawn are his mother, Peggy Lindsey of Stamford; his aunt Pat Crenshaw of Stamford and her children, Wayne, Karen, Melody and Walker; and aunts, uncle, cousins and close friends.
