Joyce Mae Stanley (nee Unser), 66, went to be with our Lord on December 18, 2018.
Joyce was born on February 17, 1952 in Yakima, Washington, the daughter of Joseph and Marion Unser. Joyce grew up and attended school in Yakima where she graduated from A.C. Davis High School, class of 1970.
On October 16, 1971 Joyce married Douglas M. Stanley, living initially in Yakima and ultimately relocating to the Portland, Oregon area in February 1974.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Douglas Stanley; two sons, Aaron (Jody) Stanley and Lynn (Sandra) Stanley; her mother, Marion Unser and two sisters, Jolene Tobin and Diane Camerer. Joyce also leaves behind six loving grandchildren, Nikolai Stanley, Darian Stanley, Anna Stanley, Dylan Stanley, Zachery Martinez and Emma Stanley.
Joyce loved spending time and doing things with her family and friends. In the early years while raising her family, Joyce enjoyed camping and boating with family and friends. Many hours were spent with her family enjoying camp fires and water skiing at various rivers, lakes and reservoirs. In the later years, Joyce enjoyed cooking and gardening as pass time activities. Joyce was an outstanding cook and loved to do Holiday meals for her family.
Joyce was a wonderful mother to her two sons, a loving wife and grandmother. Family gave her the greatest joy. She will be truly missed and remembered for her compassion for others, unconditional love, and laughter.
Joyce was a devout Christian and an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Canby, Oregon.
Joyce was also a volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul food bank located in Canby. Her last responsibility was assisting with home deliveries.
A viewing will be held at Canby Funeral Chapel on December 26th from the hours of 1-8 pm. A memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will take place December 27th, 11 am, at St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Canby. Joyce will be interred at Zion Memorial Park Cemetery.
