New Bedford – Louise V. (Barksdale) Rose, 88, of Acushnet died April 3, 2006 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the widow of William F. Rose.
Mrs. Rose was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Grover C., Sr. and Bernice (Leduc) Barksdale, and was the eldest of 13 children. She resided in the greater New Bedford area all of her life. She was a member of the South Baptists Church. She was employed as a returns receiver by Kay Windsor until her retirement. She was a member of the Treble Clef Club and Agawam Chapter #121, O.E.S. She served as the Junior Choir Director and former organist at her church. She loved playing the piano and singing in the choir.
Survivors include her daughter: Bernice L. Rose of Silver Spring, MD; 3 sisters: Sarah N. Reed of MT, Ruth F. Barksdale of Acushnet and Florence E. Barksdale of Raynham; 5 brothers: Grover C. Barksdale, Jr. of FL, Charlie C. Barksdale of FL, Benjamin W. Barksdale of CT, Andrew H. Barksdale III of New Bedford and Ernest O. Barksdale of New Bedford; her godchild and niece: Dawn Richards of Acushnet; and many nieces & nephews.
She was sister of the late Mary E. Cranston, John M. Barksdale, Thomas J. Barksdale and S. Jackson Barksdale.
