He had a private law practice and abstract business in partnership with Ronald Bonnett in Bedford. Mike was a veteran, serving six years as a pilot in the United States Air Force. Prior to his law practice, he was employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. He also served as Taylor County Attorney. Mike was a member of the Iowa State Bar Association, Nebraska Bar Association, Tau Kappa Epsilon, and Phi Alpha Delta. He was also a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Maxine and Merle Travis, and brother, James Travis.
