Betty Louise Selden (Hoff) Passed away on April 7, 2018 at the age of 98. Betty was born in Tacoma on February 6, 1920 to Bessie and James Hartley. She grew up in the Fern Hill neighborhood and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1938. She married Gerald Hoff in 1942 and raised four boys in Tacoma's north end before moving to Federal Way in 1966. In 1971 Betty married Howard Selden and they enjoyed years of adventures with family and friends. Their travels included Australia, Hong Kong and the Panama Canal. Betty enjoyed a special relationship with friends from her childhood that continued into their 90's. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and past member of the Quilters group. Betty received great strength and comfort from her prayer group. Betty was proud to live independently until the end at the Tacoma Lutheran Home 6-plexes, enjoying the social activities, support and friendship of her neighbors. Betty was predeceased by husband Gerald Hoff, son Bud Hoff, husband Howard Selden and stepsons Michael, Gerald and Richard Selden. She is survived by sons Brian (Sallaye), Wayne and Doug (Nancy) Hoff, grandchildren Kelley Flamoe (Mike), Amber, Greg (Stacy) and Laura Hoff, great grandchildren Seth and Walter Flamoe and Samuel Hoff, step grandchildren Angela O'Conner, Danielle Crivello, Jennifer Kulvanish, Natalie Razem, Jaime, Jason, Crystle, Kevin and Christopher Selden. A memorial service is planned for Sunday, April 22nd beginning at 2:00 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 6730 N. 17th, Tacoma, WA. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the charity of your choice.
