Nita Williams Green, age 83, of Brownsboro, Texas, passed away on December 20, 2018 in her home in Brownsboro, Texas. She was born to Wilma and Hilliard Williams on July 25, 1935 in De Queen, Arkansas.

Upon graduation from high school, she attended Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where she majored in elementary education. It was there that she met the love of her life, Darwin Green. They were married on July 29, 1960. Born to that union was one daughter, Leslie. The couple made their home in DeQueen and later moved to Horatio and and then to Arkadelphia. .

After retiring as Arkansas educators, they moved to Longview, Texas to resume their teaching careers. Nita was an excellent educator for over 25 years. She loved her students, and she was beloved by them. After retirement in Texas, they relocated in Brownsboro to be near their daughter’s family where they resided until their deaths.

Nita is preceded in death by her husband, Darwin, one daughter, Leslie McLean, and her parents, Hilliard and Wilma. She is also preceded in death by two sisters and brothers-in-law.Irene and George Brown of De Queen, Bernice and Weldon Reid of Lovington, New Mexico, one brother, Hubert Williams of De Queen, Arkansas and a sister-in-law, Louise Williams of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.

Nita is survived by her two grandchildren, Katie Pirtle Jiral and Drew Pirtle, both of Tyler, a son-in-law, Dan McLean of Brownsboro, one brother, Doyle Williams of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and one sister-in-law, Dot Williams of De Queen, Arkansas.
In addition she is survived by a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Nita was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was very proud of her family. Nita loved holidays and family gatherings. Any opportunity to spend time with her family was important to her. Nita was an avid story teller, and her extended family enjoyed listening to stories of past and present events. Even thought she didn't count herself as a writer, she was gifted in that as well. She was also known for her feisty, yet wonderful sense of humor. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
