Mary M. Hendrix, 95, passed away on Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.
Visitation with family present from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Towanda United Methodist Church led by Pastor Chuck McCrea and Pastor John Martyn. Burial will be in McGill Cemetery, Potwin.
Mary was born on May 5, 1923 in El Dorado, the daughter of Thomas and Mamie (Torrey) Whiteside. Mary was united in marriage to William “Vernon” Hendrix and he preceded her in death in 1990. Mary was a homemaker most of her life but worked at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater for several years and during World War II at Boeing in Wichita. She was a 25-year member of the Potwin Christian Church and had been a five-year member of the Towanda Methodist Church.
Mary’s greatest joy was her family which includes: son, Tom (Pam) Hendrix of Towanda; grandchildren, Brandon (Jessie) Hendrix of Pratt, Brittani Milne of Shawnee, Kan., and Bryce (Cecelia) Hendrix of Fort Smith, Ark.; great grandchildren, Gracie, Landry and Kynlee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Virgil Whiteside; sister, Virginia Widick.
Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to either of the churches dear to her heart Towanda United Methodist or Potwin Christian.
