Dr. George C. Schaaf, 79, Frankfort, died Jan. 4 after a brief illness. He was born July 12, 1907, in Pomeroy, to John and Margaret Hess Schaaf. On May 29, 1946, he married the former Wilma June Shingler who survives. Other suvivors include four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Ginny Lou) Koehler, Columbus, Dr. Sally Schaaf, The Plains, Mrs. Daniel (Barbara) Wade, Frankfort, Mrs. Charles (Betsy) Jones, Londonderry; son and daughter-in-law, Charles "Jake" and Dana Schaaf, Frankfort; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Edison (Margaret) Wessa, Columbus, and Mrs. Everett (Kathryn) Bachner, Middleport. He was predeceased by a son, Jon; and a sister, Mrs. May Ellis. ' Dr. Schaaf was a 1931 graduate of Ohio State University School of Dentistry. He has practiced dentistry for 56 years; 15 years in Meigs County and the last 41 years in Ross County. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 363 of Middleport for 50 years. He was also a member of the Salem Church where he had served as president of the congregation and sang for many years in the church choir. Dr. Schaaf was a past member of the Frankfort Exempted Village School Board. He was on the founding board of the Pickaway-Ross Joint Vocational School and currently served as a member of both PRJVS and the Ross County School Boards. Private services will be held at the Salem Church Thursday with Rev. Ralph Huber officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may call at the Fawcett-Oliver & Glass Funeral Home 4-8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial tributes may be made to the Salem Church Memorial Fund or the American Heart Association.
