He was born on August 10, 1940 in Quincy, the son of Arthur John & Bertha (Winkeljohn) Blickhan. He married Jane Myers on November 4, 1961 in St. Francis Catholic Church in Quincy.
Bruce was retired after working for many years as a Machinist at Gardner-Denver. He also owned B&W Dive Services with his partner Ed Willing, a company that specialized in underwater recovery and large boat repair. His company led an underwater search for endangered clams prior to the Bayview bridge construction.
Bruce was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
He was affiliated with the National Boating Association. For many years he raced hydroplanes and runabouts, both locally and nationally.
Bruce loved to go camping with family at Mark Twain Lake and spending time on his pontoon boat. He enjoyed bow hunting and was an avid bowler for many years.
He most especially loved walking his former Siberian Husky "Chinook" and current black lab, "Jake".
Bruce is survived by:
HIS WIFE: Jane Blickhan of Quincy.
TWO CHILDREN: Carol (Mike) Schmitt and Donna (Mark) Holtmeyer, both of Quincy.
SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN: Mathew (Tricia) Schmitt, Levi (Ali) Schmitt, Aaron Schmitt, Leah Schmitt, Erica (Jay) Finley, Bradley (Makenzie) Holtmeyer and Rachel Holtmeyer all of Quincy.
SIX GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN
A SISTER: Patricia ("Butch") Tortorige of Quincy along with numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, A.J. Blickhan and a great-grandson, Bentley Finley.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 11:00 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church.
Interment will be in Quincy Memorial Park.
