Rebecca Elizabeth Cooper Phillips, 96, of Charlestown, MD, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in the Singerly Manor Assisted Living, Elkton, MD.

Born in Charlestown, MD, on August 31, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Margaret (Murphy) Cooper.

Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Class of 1939 of North East High School and a graduate of Cecil College. She was a member of St. John’s UM Church, Charlestown, MD, a 61 year member of the Eastern Star, and 40 year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a member of the Women’s Club of Cecil County, Colonial Dames of America, and the Charlestown Colonial Commission. She loved Charlestown and was well versed on its history.

She is survived by her loving husband of 74 years, Robert Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded by a sister, Alice Miller; and brother, Leslie Cooper.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 11 a.m. at St. John’s UM Church, 240 Market Street, Charlestown, MD, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Charlestown Cemetery.
