Catherine Reyes Hernandez, 80, a saleswoman for 30 years at Delbert's Department Store and Jul-Eye's Children's clothes, died December 28, 1992.
Born August 3, 1912, in Pueblo, Colorado, she had been a National City Resident since 1949.
Catherine was active in the community. She collected clothes and toys for Tijuana orphanages for many years. She was active in getting seats at bus stops in National City and better bus service on Sundays and Holidays. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she was in the church choir. She belonged to the Franciscan Order.
Memorials should be made to the order, in care of St Mary's Catholic Church.
Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Everett Hernandez, and her parents, Ysidra (Cordova) and Jose Reyes.
Survivors include her son, Everett and his wife Bea of San Diego; sisters Lucy Avellano and Fannie Bejerno, both of San Diego; two nieces; Josephine Staley and Alice Lopez; one nephew; Raoul Lopez; and two grandchildren
Rosary is 7 PM, Wednesday at Berge-Roberts Mortuary. Mass is 9 AM Thursday at St Mary's Catholic Church, with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangement are under direction of the Berge-Roberts Mortuary.
