Nancy Dick Williamson
1939 - 2018

Nancy Dick Williamson, 79, the beloved and devoted wife of James C. “Jim” Williamson, of Covington, Louisiana, died on December 16, 2018, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital after a courageous and determined battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

A literal daughter of West Point, Nancy was the daughter, granddaughter, niece, widow, and sister-in-law of graduates of the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York.

Born in Fort Benning, Georgia, on April 18, 1939, to Brig. Gen. John Somers Buist Dick, U.S. Army (Ret.), and Lucy Gross Dick, both deceased, Nancy traveled the world as an Army daughter, and lived and attended schools in Tokyo, Japan, and Naples, Italy. She also lived at West Point while her father was a Professor of Mathematics and later Head of the Mathematics Department.

In July 1964, Nancy married Bernard A. Ferry, Jr. (deceased), shortly after his graduation from the U.S. Military Academy, and they remained married until his death in 2007.

In February 2017, she married her husband, Jim Williamson, who is the owner of the popular Land O’ Pines Campground in Covington, Louisiana.

Nancy was the loving adoptive mother and caretaker of Prince the Cat and helped nurture him through a traumatic illness. She was a prolific letter writer and detailed story teller who touched the lives of all with whom she came in contact. Nancy enjoyed feeding her backyard birds, especially the redbirds, who gathered in abundance around her several feeders. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, and of the Duke Men’s Basketball Team coached by one of her father’s former students, “Coach K.”

For many years, Nancy was a successful real estate agent for Century 21 in Greece, New York. Nancy attended St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church and was an honorary member of the Naim Society.
