A lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of Lawson Lincoln Allen and Mary Mashburn Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Paul E. Rogers, who died on November 30, 2018 and her sister, Joyce Allen Medford. Patsy was a 1948 graduate of Canton High School and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a teaching certificate. She later completed her Master’s Degree in Reading Education from Western Carolina University.
Patsy worked in multiple elementary schools in the Haywood County School System. She loved teaching children reading fundamentals. Patsy especially focused her later working years towards helping struggling children learn to read. She was an accomplished pianist and a certified Master Gardener. Patsy enjoyed writing poetry and playing with her five great grandchildren.
Patsy is survived by her son, Steven Andrew Rogers of Prattville, AL; two grandchildren, Charles Lee Rogers of Asheville and Brianna M Baker of Dayton, OH; and five great- grandchildren, Fairlight Baker, Charles, Jacob, Atlas and Myles Rogers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 20, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Paul D. Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
