George Swetenham, was born in Meerut, India, 25 November 1837, commissioned into the Royal Engineers in 1836 and served in India at the siege and capture of Lucknow, the storming and capture of Kussiar Rampur, etc. He was injured at Lucknow and awarded the Indian Muting Medal 1857-1859
He gained his Majority in 1873. He died at Bolarum, India on 10 July 1878.
He married Julia Johanna Gibbons, then aged 16, at Fyzabad, Oudh, India on 19 February 1864. Julia was born in Dublin. She died on 10 January 1914 at the West London Hospital and is buried at Warstone Lane Cemetery, Birmingham.
The couple had four children:
Charles Condon, born 28 September 1864, Mussoorie, Bengal, India. Charles married Elizabeth Beatrice Leslie Watson in Bomaby in 1902 and died in Dorset 1940.
George, 8 April 1866, in Bolarum, Madras
Clement Alexander, born 25 November 1867, Trichinopoly, Madras, India. Clement died at Derby School on 27 July 1884 and is buried in Warstone Lane Cemetery, Birmingham.
Lesa Agnes, born 27 April 1871 in Paddington.
